Watch Me Bleed is a new band from Germany. Their name is a little disorientating since this is not yet another emo band. Their sound would best be described us modern thrash/death metal. They draw their influence from the last decades US thrash metal scene with elements of Testament, Pantera and the sort.
The good part of "Souldrinker" is the music. Straightforward, heavy, raw and aggressive. Exactly how thrash/death metal should be. Technically the album has much to offer. With good solid riffs and a really good rhythm session to boost the whole thing. This is an album meant to be played live. The vocals are a mix of aggressive growlings and metalcore shoutings, but lack comparing to the music. This brings us to the downside of "Souldrinker" that is a mediocre sound production, greatly affecting the quality of the vocals. The album sounds dull even compared with releases from two decades ago and the vocals sound totally unprocessed. I strongly believe that with a better production this would be a major release, but still, the music makes up for that. Every song is equally strong and the addition of “The Bleeding Chalice” as closure with some clean vocals adds much to the outcome. Recommended for the fans of the genre. |
