Symbolic - Demo 2004
Tracklist:

01. Intro
02. Don't Turn Away
03. In Your Emptiness
04. Dreamend

One of the CDs chief editor brought with him during his orthodox eastern holidays in our hometown is this one, the demo cd of Symbolic. Listening to it once, I immediately realized that the review should "bear" my signature. When I opened the case I was surprised by two things.

First surprise, the origin of the band. Bosnia & Herzegovina??? This stands as an undeniable proof that heavy metal knows no limits. Second surprises, the genre of metal Symbolic have chosen to follow. I was expecting to hear something close to hardcore or generally extreme metal (I don't know why but I have the impression that the extreme genres flourish there). But melodic heavy metal with neoclassical references, believe me, I never would have thought of that.

So, what we have here is a demo CD consisted of 3 tracks plus 1 intro, a sufficient amount to help me draw safe conclusions and understand that Symbolic have just left planet underground, heading for the next one called "label contract". In fact they're only just few steps away from there. Do you think I'm exaggerating? Wait till you listen to "Don't Turn away" or "Dreamend" and you'll definitely agree with me.

In these 3+1 tracks you'll be offered a blend of magnificent guitars, not surprising solos but inspiring enough, successful transitions between rhythms and key parts that will definitely remind you of my favorite Artension. The production could be better, but since we are talking about a demo, they are totally excused. Bottom-line, a very good start and I can't wait to see how their next effort will sound. Until then…
