Seventh Wonder were
formed in 2000 by bass player Andreas,
guitarist Johan and drummer Johnny.
Later keyboard player Andreas joined
in the band. They have had several
vocalists over the years but seem
to have made the right choice in Tommy’s
voice (Tommy came to the band in 2005
just before their debut album "Become").
The CD was mixed
and mastered by Tommy Hansen (what
happened with him lately?), who puts
for one more time the stamp "excellent
production". Seventh Wonder
is just at the beginning of an impressive
career and that’s why all the
biographies above are interesting.
As a debut it is
very optimistic and I am very sure
about that. Here "grows"
something great. Melodic progressive
metal with influences from Dream Theater,
especially on drums and Symphony X,
both on the melodic parts of keyboards
and the way that John composes with
his guitar. However the classical
influences of Mike Romeo (guitarist
Symphony X) are not included in here.
Listening again
and again this album, I think that
is a softer edition of "Divine
Wings of Tragedy" by Symphony
X. Also you can find some similarities
in the sound with Cloudscape.
Bottom line: I have not heard the
album "Become" in order
to confirm some steps of progress.
Listening to "Waiting in the
Wings" gave me the promise that
their next album will be something
amazing. I hope not to get disappointed.
