Well, well, well, what do we have here? Hellion Records uh! Ruffians 85 + Live says on the front cover. But let's open it and see what we can find inside; a 16-pages booklet containing lyrics and some very good photos. We obviously have to deal with the re-release of Ruffians', legendary and hard to come by, 6-tracker EP, plus 6 live bonus tracks recorded in San Francisco on September 1985 (what a glorious decade this was!!!). Pure American, mid-tempo, Heavy Metal with sublime melodies and kick-ass riffing. The rhythm section is simply robust and the solos by Craig Behrhorst and Chris Atchison fill the air with magic! But the man behind the microphone is the one that runs the show. Carl Albert is his name and in my opinion he is amongst the 5 top vocalists in the entire heavy metal history so far!!! Unfortunately he isn't with us anymore, because of a tragic car accident in 1995.

You must listen to him in order to understand completely his majesty. I'm talking about the ultimate heavy/power metal voice. Just listen to "Run for Cover" (that was released also as a single) or to "Wasteland" and you'll see what I mean. Carl Albert did also the vocals for the bands "Vilain" and "Vicious Rumors", after "Ruffians" of course. I would also like to inform you that "Ruffians" opened the live concerts for bands like Y&T, UFO, Saxon, Savatage, and many more. Just don't miss this magnificent cd and don't forget to listen the live song on high volume. And if you happen to run into God please ask him why he decided to take away from our favorite music this stunning voice. R.I.P Carl Albert!!!
