There
are only a few bands left that rock
big time in our dim colored times
and one of them is still here with
us, alive and kicking! Our beloved
German melodic hard rock group strikes
back with a fascinating album, which
could easily be placed at the top
of 2007 releases. Believe me, I'm
not exaggerating. It's very difficult
for an artist or a band to maintain
a high performance all the while until
its tenth album! And Pink Cream 69
have done it all the way.
The songwriting
is a hard thing to do and only a few
chosen have the ability to put it
into practice. Be happy, people because
hard rock is living it up right now
thanks to groups like this one. With
regard to the sound there's only one
thing I could say and it's hard rock
class from start to finish without
any doubt. Up-tempo all the way except
the last song, which by the way is
a sublime ballad in the vein of Guns
'n' Roses. You have to listen
to tracks like "Children Of
The Dawn" with its perfect structure
or the following "No Way Out"
that's build upon a perfect chorus
and you'll find out that the truth
is out there, thank God! "I'm
Not Afraid" was made to make
us happy through its burning hot refrain,
while "I Wanna Hear You Rock"
is the epitome of how hard rock should
be played (it also reminds of the
late Scorps album or even Dio). There's
not a single track that comes short
of quality or intenseness. There's
simply something in here for everyone...
David Readman is
a gifted singer but let's not forget
that he's backed up by excellent musicians
and a grand production given that
Dennis Ward is certainly the man of
the moment. I bow (here's the proper
occasion to do it) to their talent
and I'll gladly wait ‘till their
next step.
Finally: "You
got the power, I feel your fire in
my soul / You got the fever ‘cos
you were born to rock 'n' roll"
(Whitesnake's "Children Of the
Night").
