Moonmadness are a hard rocking band from Tampere Finland. A fair description of their music would be melodramatic heavy rock that mixes influences throughout 70's and 80's to contemporary metal. Having shot their first video clip already and having performed as a supporting act to legends, like Deep Purple and Yngwie Malmsteen, Moonmadness are obviously here to stay. Their influences are mainly focused on the Deep Purple sound. Ritchie Blackmore is present with riffs, solos and phrases almost in every track. Take for example "Victims of the Moon", which is pure Richie's playing. Tracks, as "Shot Through the Wing", reminds us Ian Gillan and Deep Purple a lot, while if you listen to "On the Edge of Madness" it's like it came directly out of 1984's "Perfect Strangers"! Through some bars the guitar has also some Steve Morse influences and the keyboard player can't hide his hair metal memories, as on "On the Air" we are listening to some familiar Europe keys phrases. Further to that, some strings arrangements and violins enrich their sound and help them avoid the easy categorization. Overall, it is a good work based on some very good vocals and musicianship, but... hey, it is like we have listened to that album in the past! And that's not bad at all.
