The Kolios Project - "Demo 2005"
Tracklist:

01. Forsaken
02. Lambs
03. Low Men in Yellow Coats
04.Teleological Suspension of the Ethical

From what I know this is the first demo of the U.S. band The Kolios Project. They have a very weird name (especially for the Greek readers), but there is nothing funny about the band when it comes to the essence of the demo. Simply speaking, "Demo 2005" is a real gem of instrumental progressive metal. Imagine a combination of Psychotic Waltz, Darkstar, Gordian Knot, Aghora and Cynic and you will get a picture of the sound of The Kolios Project. As you can understand the demo has a sci-fi, weird atmosphere that makes it even more unique. The band is child of Ryan Denzer-King, who is responsible for the most of the things in the demo, and Mandfred Dikkers. The two members, with the valuable help of a few fellow musicians, they have managed to create an amazing set of songs. The production is very good (although needs some minor improvements) and demonstrates that they know what they want and what suits to their music. I do not want to distinguish any of the four songs, but if I had to, then I would choose the opening "Forsaken" and the closing "Teleological Suspension of the Ethical".

I understand that this kind of sound is not so approachable and accessible, but the whole result is very qualitative and it is worthy listening to it. I think that the guys in several record labels around the world should check this band and offer them a good contract, because it would be shame to loose another great band in the domain of genuine progressive metal. As for you, who are into progressive metal, get in contact with the band in koliosproject@koliosproject.com or visit their website www.koliosproject.com for more information.
