I am a big fan of Jon Oliva's music; I admire all his works with Savatage, Transiberian Orchestra and now with Jon Oliva's Pain, except of course the album "Fight for the Rock". I think that Jon Oliva's Pain is the physical continuation of Savatage and my opinion about the new album Maniacal Renderings is the same with this that I have for the albums of Savatage and the previous of Jon Oliva's Pain. It is an excellent heavy metal album. There are differences between this and the former album "Tage Mahal". "Maniacal Renderings" is heavier and is based more on guitars than keyboards, without meaning that there are no tracks, which the keys have the basic role. The work on guitars is great; stormy riffs, great melodic parts and amazing solos. Moreover, the voice of Jon Oliva is on top levels and the compositions are very good and there is a variety between them. I am sure that this release will not disappoint any fan of this great musician. Jon Oliva offered us grand moments once again. One of the best albums for this year.
