I watch the career of Hammerfall from the beginning and I could say that I am fan of their music. Additionally I have never been disappointed from their albums until now. Surely, I don't expect from them to release a new "Glory to the Brave" or "Legacy of Kings", but at least all of their releases were very good. Hammerfall is a band, which you know what they are going to play. They don't change their style and we do not want that. So, in their last album "Threshold" you will hear classical heavy metal with epic elements and sometimes fast riffs, like speed metal. There are tracks like "Natural High" and "Howling With a Pac", which are great and on the other side weak compositions like "Rebel Inside" and "Dark Wings, Dark Words" (perhaps the only ballad of Hammerfall, which does not make me to feel anything). Moreover, "Threshold" moves to the same, not quite high, level in all its duration and becomes boring. When I say in the same level, I mean that all tracks are in the same style, except the ballad "Dark Wings, Dark Words" and the instrumental "Reign of the Hammer". I heard it a lot of times and after finishing every hearing, there were few things, which stay in my mind. Despite the great production and the excellent voice of Joacim Cans, there are some combinations that are not good enough. This doesn't mean that the album is not good. Simply it has several good songs and some mediocre.
