After
he got a lot of experience touring
with great groups as Arch Enemy, Dream
Evil, Nightrage and playing next to
musicians such as Michael Ammott,
Gus G. decided to put a stop in all
of these and lead his personal band
to a higher level. He called in Firewind
an experienced drummer, Mark Cross,
and the very talented, former singer
of Time Requiem, Apollo. The result
that we have is very good. "Allegiance"
is a very good heavy metal album with
some hard rock points, which bring
to your mind groups like Whitesnake
and Scorpions. The sound is exceptional,
the songs differ one from another,
but don't deviate from the basic
idea of the album. There are heavy/power
songs, as the homonym and "Dreamchaser",
hard rock as "Ready to Strike"
and ‘Where Do We Go from Here?".
At "Breaking the Silence"
Tara, a pop singer from Holland, participates
in vocals, making a duet with Apollo
(this song is one of the best moments
of this album). Gus G. doesn't
demonstrate his abilities and let
in some cases the keys stars, except
the established instrumental ("Before
the Storm"). Finally, their
new album is more melodic than the
previous "Forged by Fire"
as, a matter of my opinion, the voice
of Apollo suits more than this of
Somapala. |
