Here it is, the new release of the "Magic Man". Let's get down to business immediately and examine each song individually. "One more for the Road" is the title of the opening track and here we go!!! This is a small but miraculous track that reminds me of Dio's past and I must say I was impressed by the good condition of Dio's voice when I firstly listened to it. If you ask me, this is the ideal opening song. The second in line is the homonymous track, a slow tempo song with very good vocals again (editor's note: what the hell is wrong with you George? We're talking about Dio here!!!). "Master of the Moon" is a typical song for Dio's latest releases.

The follow-up track is "The End Of the World" and my mouth formed a big O in surprise when I heard again Dio's exceptional voice. Other than that, this is another typical Dio song with mediocre guitars, contrary to "Shiver" that has staccato guitars, an introduction with piano, a quite interesting, or inspiring if you like, solo and it's one of the best and more melodic tracks of the album. "The Man Who..." comes next with a very good opening, mid tempo rhythm and a constant pleasant atmosphere until the end. "The Eyes" is also an atmospheric and "dark" slow tempo song with very good lead guitars.

The 7th track entitled "Living the Life" is in my humble opinion one of the best, together with the first and the last, of the album. I daresay this must be a forgotten song from the "Last in Line" period. Its heavy metal rhythm and beautiful solo at the end, took me back many years. The next one titled "I Am" has a good melodic sound and the refrain reminds me a little bit the period of "Headless Cross" (just a little only). The "Death by Love" that follows has a forceful introduction and it's once again a pure heavy metal song with very good work on the guitar by Goldy.

And we finally come to the ending track "In Dreams" that has a majestic epic introduction and continues in a slow tempo until the end. It also includes the best guitar solo of the entire album. By the end of the listening I was still wondering how can Dio preserve his magnificent voice all these years? If I'm not mistaken he is 63 years old, although I had the impression that I was listening to a 30 years younger vocalist (editor's note: I told you George, we're talking about Dio here). This is truly an amazing achievement from an amazing musician.

Generally "Master of the Moon" is a slow tempo album with some fast outbursts, a very good production but only 46 minutes duration, which I think is a major drawback. If I had the opportunity to add some things in the album, these would definitely be some more guitar parts and more fast tempo songs in order to keep a never-ending interest to the listener. Nevertheless this is a good and "secure" choice for every heavy metal fan and especially for the die-hard fans of the 80's. The rest may get a little bored with "Master of the Moon". I can't wait for the next release from the mighty "short-man" and his band.
