I believe you're
familiar with the current situation
in the cd market and how difficult
things are.The fans have become more
choosy over the years and the first
to pay the price are the bands and
their ambitious efforts, since its
pretty clear and blunt to me that
among thousands of mainstream and
underground names, a fan will pick
the most known one. This usually works
well, but there're times when we really
ignore some very promising acts.
Lets hope Cloudscape
will be able to escape from the pack.
Even though it's a new band, I've
read many interesting things for them
on several magazines and webzines
and naturally, their case drew my
attention from the very start. You'll
understand "naturally" in
a while. Where was I…uh yes,
good for me. I wasn't disappointed,
not for a single moment, from my choice
to support them. Cloudscape are delivering
Neoclassical Power Metal, definitely
and "naturally" my cup of
tea, in the vein of 3 other incredible
bands, Adagio, Space Odyssey and most
of all Symphony X, but you can also
trace some Stratovarious filings.
Listening to their self-titled cd,
you can immediately understand that
teamwork is the key, since I don't
believe any particular Cloudscape
member has decided to lead the way
(contrary to what's happening to many
alike bands). The fact that they aren't
so young isn't discouraging at all,
since the astonishing quality they
offer via their debut cd, makes me
think of them as one of the biggest
hopes for the future.
Bottom-line:
Despite the vast amout of cd's
I have to listen and review, I just
can't take this one out of my
player. The more I listen to it the
more I like it and I can't wait
for their next one. |
