Caamora is a new
project of the never-standing-on-one-place
Clive Nolan (Arena, Pendragon, Neo
and many more) and Agnieszka Swita.
"Walk On Water" is an EP,
the second in a row, consisted by
four tracks, which acts like a teaser
for the forthcoming "She"
album. Caamora also enjoy the services
of some prolific personas of the neo-prog-rock
movement, such as Mark Westwood (Martin
Orford Band, Neo) on guitar, John
Jowitt (IQ, Jadis and numerous other)
on bass and Scott Higham on drums.
Now, as a female
fronted prog rock band Caamora share
some common aesthetics with Magenta
(not so moody) and Mostly Autumn,
especially when Clive takes part in
the singing of songs like "Shadows"
and both of them sing together. We
knew that Clive can cope with vocals
easily as seen in the recent NEO DVD,
but this goes beyond expectations.
Anyway, Agnieszka Swita has a very
good voice, straightforward and powerful.
The songs help her to express an intense
aspect of her voice, with the exception
of the last track, which is the most
sensitive part of this EP.
To me seems that
Clive Nolan feels more free in this
project, probably because he is the
main composer and has reserved some
space for expressing his skills. However
we need to see how things will be
in "She", which, as a full-length
album, has other requirements. The
production is remarkable, done by
Clive Nolan and Karl Groom in Thin
Ice studios, something that you will
definitely appreciate.
Be prepared to see
the forthcoming "She" album
in visual form, as the band has already
scheduled to record a very special
night on 31st October 2007 at the
Wyspianski Theatre, Katowice, Poland.
More on this will follow, but just
to upset your imagination think that
this is a concept album and some of
the performers will be, except Agnieszka
and Clive, Alan Reed (Pallas) and
Christina Booth (Magenta). To summarize,
this is a very good release, recommended
to the friends of progressive rock
and all those who enjoy wonderful
female voices. |
