This is the third
effort of Green Carnation and is a
rather differentiated than their usual
ones. "A blessing…"
is moving aside from their -until
now- familiar style of doom/prog metal.
This is a hybrid of progressive, hard
rock and power metal in a very specific
way. Some elements of doom metal atmosphere
are still present, but certainly not
enough to call this Cd doom metal.
I guess that there are not many bands
that play in this way and it's very
difficult to sort them, nor because
they play something extraordinary
or something new, but because they
play so many things together. You
don't have to worry at all for the
quality of this Cd. The band is consisted
of very talented musicians, high skilled,
which are composing really interesting
songs and need no confirmation of
their value. They play their music
in a very sincere way and this is
experienced when someone listens to
tracks as "Lullaby in the winter",
"Writings on the wall" and
"As life blows by". Although
I liked much more their previous musical
direction, I have to admit that this
Cd is a very mature release. I guess
that there is no turning back for
Green Carnation and their next steps
will be to this direction. |
