Black Majesty is
hailing from Australia, a far away
land that has produced some of the
greatest bands in many genres of the
metal music. Together with Canada,
they have a limited number of bands,
but the quality that they bear makes
them a considerable power in metal.
"Sands of time" is the debut
album of the band and is a very good
beginning. We have to admit that Mr.
Limp has the "nose" to trace
talented bands that are writing good
and catchy metal music and Black Majesty
is his new acquisition.
What they play is
a kind of "refined" German
power metal, meaning that they follow
the mark of bands like Kamelot and
Angra, with speed, melody and some
classical strokes. However the music
isn't so one-dimensional. The
vocal melodies have some elements
from American power metal and the
dual parts of the guitars have a slight
scent of the Iron Maiden guitar work.
Complex is sounding, right? Not at
all, this cd has a normal and natural
flow and every part has its meaning.
This isn't anything ground crushing,
something you haven't heard,
but it has a freshness that is necessary
to separate them from the mass "promising
newcomers" that over-load the
scene. They have the potential to
evolve, as they are equipped with
composing abilities and scoring maturity.
Songs like "Fall
of the Reich", "Journey's
end", "Colliding worlds"
and "Beyond reality" are
highlighting this release, which is
well produced by the band and Endel
Rivers. The cover is the only uninspired
thing, but I think that in such cases
we are looking for needle in the straws.
