Those
who follow my reviews will probably
have seen for themselves that I try
to be brief and that I prefer in few
sentences the reader to get a hint
of what he is about to listen. This
is one of the few times that I don’t
care in describing the album. I will
try in a few words to analyze the
phenomenon that is called Beyond Twilight
with a view to provoke readers out
of curiosity to run to the closest
disc-shop and buy one of their CDs.
After that the obtainment of their
discography will automatically take
its’ way, believe me.
If you ask me with
whose band does their music sound
like, the answer is easy. With no
ones. In each album there are some
common musical features, each very
different from one another and the
result is very unique. In B.T.’s
music you will encounter slow passages,
fast passages, theatrical parts, operatic
parts, symphonic fast solos, heavy
riffs, slow leads, all under a veil
of dark atmosphere that makes you
feel that an obscure cloud is taking
over your ears and mind for the 37
minutes that the album lasts. It is
true that even though you listen to
all these different things in the
CD, you believe that the album lasts
twice the time it does. Once more
he has made wild discovery on the
man who took over the vocals. Bjorn
Jansson of Tears of Anger truly astonished
me. I don’t believe that a mundane
with the boisterous Lande voice, but
also schizophrenic has ever gotten
to the skin of his role so perfectly.
Perfect choice.
Bottom Line: We are in the middle
of the year and I have already chosen
the album of the year. The mark couldn’t
have been more subjective. Because
of the music of “For the Love
of Art and the Making” being
particularly thick, I suggest that
before you listen to “For the
Love of Art and the Making”
try listening or even better, indulge
in Finn Zierlers’ previous work.
If I was asked to explain the definition
of PROGRESSIVE METAL my suggestion
is simple: Beyond Twilight is its’
precise synonym. A piece of art, indisputably.
P.S. 1: A demand
is that the next release is a DVD…
P.S. 2: I still haven’t said
enough… |
