Oh
it’s hard to get promos and
review them in the middle of Greek
summer. In fact it is a nightmare,
because there are hundred other things
that you want to do instead. Anyway
the only thing that can comfort you
is to have in your player something
that worth listening. Thankfully the
case of these young Italians was satisfying
this condition. The five-piece band
from Torino, Italy makes its first
attempt to introduce us its music.
From what I know the band has already
introduced its music to the Italian
audience, through a series of live
appearances in festivals. So we get
our chance too.
Atomixynergy play
progressive metal; no more, no less.
Their influences come from Dream Theater
and Pain of Salvation, but I would
say that there is some Shadow Gallery
shade on their music too. The band
has found the right balance between
melody and technicality and this is
an advantage. There are some interesting
moments in songs like "Vero
Ritorna", that show some potential.
The main problem is the production,
which is very-very weak and actually
buries all good efforts. The other
significant problem, which to my opinion
is something that they can work out,
is Andrea Romano’s voice. Romano
needs to work on his voice and be
more vivid. Progressive metal is easy
to be "cold" or to address
only to musicians. But I sense that
the intentions of Atomixynergy are
to put some emotion into it and that's
where Romano should take action.
I am very positive
that the band will return with something
better. I consider "Liquid Light
in Abyss" as a very promising
debut and I advise you to contact
with the band to purchase the demo.
You can also check out by yourselves
the samples posted in their website
and their webpage in MySpace.
