Armistice are hailing
from Germany and "Roots of Evil"
is their third work and definitely
not my first contact with their music
since they had sent me their 2 previous
efforts for presentation through,
my once named, "Metal Battle"
radio show. So I can have a set view
for the band and their musical and
compositional skills. The characterization
"German thrash metal"
may seem old-fashioned to most of
you, but some old dogs may desperately
contemplate it.
After the incredible
latest albums from Kreator and Exodus
and the reactivation of Destruction,
I'm once again dying for a good
"old-fashioned" thrash
comeback, based mostly on new bands
with fresh ideas that will help its
continuation and longevity. The German
"panzer" Armistice seems
to be one of these, heading with full
speed and thrashy brutal pace towards
this direction. Their music is overflowing
with aggressive riffs able to force
you into headbanging and derangement
at the end. They reminded me of Exodus
in many cases and I must add that
the tempo isn't wholly fast,
since there are many "slow"
moments.
Bottom-line:
"Roots of Evil" together
with their 2 previous works are three
very good suggestions for every metal,
and not only thrash metal, fan. What's
more important though is the right
time of a release and I believe that
"Root of Evil" is on the
right time, together with many other
impressive thrash releases. This will
certainly make some of us discover
and keep an eye on this excellent
band and believe me, they richly deserve
it. |
