Do you know any band that comes from Canada not being very good at what it does? Well, I can't find one. Same goes for Antiquus, whose latest cd I've received recently (ahem…to be perfectly honest a while ago) and it makes me think, what the hell is going on there? What's the secret?

I believe that my prologue was more than enough for you so as to understand that what we have here, is something very good. So, since we've cleared that up, let's move on to the description of "Ramayana"'s musical direction. It reminds me of early 90's US power metal and particularly 2 bands, Steel Prophet and Solitude Aeturnus (!!!)(in a more speedy tempo of course).

6 of the 10 songs are a part of a concept story with the title "Ramayana". I would dare to say that if you listen to this album, you'll probably agree with me that it sounds like a 90's hidden treasure. Moreover, I believe that this one could be released through a big label, after changing the mediocre cover and only that.

If there're some labels out there in search of fresh blood and new promising acts, then Antiquus may turn out to be the ideal signing. As for as, the fans… Well you know. Duty calls. And as always, we must contact the band and order our copy, adding at the same time another valuable item in our collection. I'm sure we'll hear from the soon.
