"Unusual" is the latest work of this Hungarian Band that is distributed and aims to spread the name of the band around the world. "Unusual" is the right description of the music of the band. You see Aebsence aren't following any well-defined music idiom out, especially those that are common-used. In fact their music is hard to be compared with many other band's one. "Unusual" is somewhere between heavy rock and prog/folk. Its basis is powerful heavy rock with expressive vocals enhanced with some prog rock interludes and folk elements. It is this "Unusual" mixture that makes you remind sometimes System of a Down of the latest album, Soundgarden, Mayfair (these Swiss prog/rock alchemists) and the German originated unknown band of Twelve after Elf (back in the mid 90's). All these are the positive elements of "Unusual" that are quite attractive indeed. But this release has some negative points, too. From a point and on this release is driving you boring and you've got the sense that is repeating the same tunes. The production is ideal ; they have done a very good work, and if I wanted to discriminate some songs as the best ones I would choose all the songs of the first half of the album. If they can work out on the issue of repetition and resolve it, then I'm sure that their next release will leave us speechless. As far as goes for "Unusual"…
