I've done many reviews
in the past concerning the current
Spanish metal scene and if my memory
doesn't betray me, only Red Wine were
singing in their native language…
From now on you should add Abyss to
this category…
This power metal
sextet is a very difficult case for
me… They do prefer their compositions
lengthy (with many rhythm changes
though) but in the end of every song,
the listener don't remember a single
note… Hence the fact that after
a couple of tunes, they're experimenting
with more proggy landscapes and the
whole result sounds rather confusing...
The keyboard enrichment possibly will
sound convincing for you but every
good attempt of the band is ruined
by their choice to 'dress' the songs
with their native language.
You see, I belong
to those people which believe that
the English language is the only appropriate
for heavy metal music and besides
a couple of exceptions, I tend to
keep distance from everything that
comes with a different aspect…
To sum the things
up, if you think that the Spanish
language won't cause you any kind
of problem and you belong to the fellowship
of the current power metal (with prog
dashes) scene, then enter at your
own risk… |
