BLEED THE SKY tracklist revealed
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-08-2008 08:02

Murder The Dance, the sophomore album for Oklahoma City's BLEED THE SKY, is set for release in North America on June 10.

TRACK LIST:
01. Knife Fight In A Phone Booth
02. Sullivan
03. Murder The Dance
04. The Sleeping Beauty
05. Morose
06. Occam's Razor
07. Bastion
08. Slavior
09. Kettle Black
10. Poseidon
11. The Demons That Could Be
12. Vertical Smile

The album was produced and engineered by Christian Olde Wolbers (FEAR FACTORY), mixed by Ben Schigel at Spider Studios, and mastered by Matt Rosebery at Skin Deep Studios.

Commented BLEED THE SKY lead vocalist Noah Robinson:

"Our inspiration for this album was listening to all the stuff we grew up on. During every part of this recording, we had some sort of drink in our hand. We wanted to be relaxed and comfortable. We're finally putting out the record that nearly killed us. This is exactly what we wanted to do from the beginning, but we just weren't really sure how.

We wanted to make the end-all, be-all record, and I think we accomplished that. Everything on this album is blood, sweat, and tears, even the hidden track. The first part of it are voicemails that somebody left us, and the second part was kind of last-minute. When you hear it, you can tell. It was played on Quincy Jones' piano at Westlake Studios in Beverly Hills. Bottom line, we can't wait to hit the road again and show everyone the new BLEED THE SKY!!!"

Memorial track honoring DIMEBAG DARREL
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-08-2008 07:59

SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner, former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson, ex-JUDAS PRIEST/ICED EARTH and current Beyond Fear/Yngwie Malmsteen singer Tim "Ripper" Owens and DAITRIBE guitarist Tristan "1690" Grigsby have joined forces to record a song for the upcoming tribute album to late PANTERA/DAMAGEPLAN guitarist "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott. Entitled "Leave It Alone", the track features solos by special guests Nick Bowcott (ex-GRIM REAPER) and fan Brian Cashmore.

It was recorded and mixed in Chicago at Farview Recording by Jason Walsh, with additional tracks recorded at Saltmine studios in Phoenix, Arizona & Galahad Studios in Cleveland Ohio.

David Ellefson states "Ironically, it led to a really cool metal jam we did for Rockhouse at WNAMM this past year, a gig which brought in our friend "Ripper" to really tear it up on vox.

"Leave It Alone" is not only a cool song but it was also the beginning of a great working relationship with me and Jason Bittner doing clinics, jams, and so forth.

"Leave It Alone" will be released to radio in April and will be made available for download exclusively via iTunes.

All proceeds from the song will go to the Little Kids Rock school program.

The complete song is now available at this location.

Little Kids Rock believes that all children in our public schools deserve music education as music education is a transforming force in children's lives. Dimebag had the same philosophy with always sharing his passion and love of music to the world inspiring kids to pick up a guitar.

PARADISE LOST - “The Anatomy Of Melancholy” DVD to be released soon
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-08-2008 07:56

As the European release date of Gothic Metal masters PARADISE LOST’s highly anticipated new DVD “The Anatomy Of Melancholy” is drawing closer, the band has revealed a first impression of this brilliant live-recording. From now on you have the opportunity to listen to four songs taken off the upcoming live document at the band’s official MySpace page: www.myspace.com/paradiselostuk!

Starting with the UK live debut of “The Enemy” from the latest album “In Requiem”, the set-list includes songs the band hadn’t played live in a long time prior to that night, such as “Eternal” and “Gothic” from their 1991 album “Gothic”, the rare B-side “Sweetness” from their 1994 “Seals The Sense” single and other classics from their impressive album roster.

Guitarist Greg Mackintosh comments:
“The release of “The Anatomy of Melancholy” is quite exciting for us. Not only is it a DVD but it is also our first live album in the history of PARADISE LOST! It incorporates pretty much every era of our career. Jens Bogren has mixed the DVD and in my opinion he did a sterling job with the mix. It has so much energy to it and you can really feel the atmosphere of this special night. Also Seths' artwork is beautiful as always. For us this is definitely a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

Nick Holmes, Vocals:
"After 20 years and 11 albums, we figured it was maybe time to release our first live album. We wanted a good cross section of what we feel are our most popular "live"-songs, whilst also representing a good proportion of our albums so far. I feel that all the songs chosen for this DVD sit very well side by side in a live environment, despite our musical career being somewhat varied at times. Already there are people who disagree with some of our song choices, but if that means that we have more than one good song, I guess that´s a positive.”

With the band’s 20th anniversary in 2008, this DVD is the perfect entertainment for your private anniversary party. A trailer for “The Anatomy Of Melancholy” will be posted online soon!

Here are the exact release dates:
GERMANY / AUSTRIA / SWITZERLAND / BENELUX / ITALY: Friday, May 23, 2008.

ABORTED - post two new songs, album cover artwork at revamped MySpace profile!
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-08-2008 07:52

Mankind’s sense for creativity probably manifests best in the sheer unlimited ways of torturing, mutilating, and killing each other. Successfully applying this atrocious inventiveness to their perversely precise sonic executions, “European death metal butchers” ABORTED with members hailing from Belgium, France & UK have refined and re-defined the tools of their trade on their sixth full-length “Strychnine.213” to murder the listener with unimaginably gruesome, shockingly diverse brutality.

Besides the macabre cover artwork by Colin Marks / Rain Song, ABORTED now present you two new songs from their stunning follow-up to 2007’s much-lauded Century Media debut “Slaughter & Apparatus: A Methodical Overture” at their revamped MySpace site.

“I35” demonstrates how ABORTED have successfully increased the modern, darker and surprisingly dynamic and melodic elements of their sound, whereas “Pestiferous Subterfuge” is another brutal groove monster, heavy to the max! Listen to them now at www.myspace.com/abortedmetal
Combining the band’s undeniable live energy with a powerhouse production from Eric Rachel (The Red Chord, The Black Dahlia Murder, God Forbid etc.) and a “fuck you' rock'n roll” approach to the overly edited, sterile sounding death metal records of today, ABORTED succeed in retaining their vicious roots while evolving in terms of melody, musical virtuosity and vigor.

“Strychnine.213” reinforces the notion that ABORTED have doubtlessly developed into extreme metal’s most promising new breed.

DESTRUCTION reveal new album title, "D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N."
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-06-2008 14:59

2008 - 25 years of German Thrash Metal history has elapsed, but still the unrelenting Thrash Monster that is Destruction is hungry, out there and on your trail !! The degeneration of the human race human can be delayed no longer.

Perfectly transforming this ethos into 10 destructive new Thrash hymns including blistering moments such as "Offenders Of The Throne", "Under Compulsion" or "Doomed To Devolution", this upcoming album will re-write Thrash Metal history! Meaner and more musical than ever before, the German metal originator reports back after three years without a new studio record! Sure, "Thrash Anthems" put down a marker, but that was bringing the past stingingly up to date. This is the future. Mark the 29th of August as an "Official" Thrash Metal Holiday!!!

While we were enjoying the first rays of Spring earlier this month, Destruction's three way killing machine was hard at work. Songwriting and final rehearsals are now complete, and Schmier, Mike and Marc will withdraw to the Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with Jacob Hansen on April 21st.

"Celebrating 25 years of Destruction is of course an additional motivation to record a new classic", reports Schmier with his characteristic "Code Of Honour"!! "But the band has never before been so well prepared for a recording, and the new material is very dynamic crashing straight in your face! All Thrash maniacs can now look forward to a merciless and varied album which will put its predecessors in the shade! Beware!!"

On the release front the new album is set to be released in Europe on the 29th of August 2008 (Sept. 1st in the UK). And, Destruction will then devastate the musical landscape with their historic "25th Anniversary World Tour" details of which will follow in due course. There are also plans for a full DVD release later in the year; all in the cause of celebrating one-quarter century of classic German Thrash Metal with all the faithful fans worldwide!

CONCERT FOR A CAUSE Extravaganza
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-05-2008 14:36

Mellotrön, Detroit's Progressive Metal, will unleash its imminent sonic destruction for a good cause, when it brings the full brunt of its progmetal prowess to the Emerald Theatre (31 North Walnut Street Mt. Clemens, MI 48043 – (586) 913-1920) on May 29 at 8 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Sabrina Black Foundation. The evening of great entertainment kicks off at 9 p.m., with legendary progressive rockers & Inside Out Records recording artists Tiles opening the festivities, followed by Lansing's own Silent Lapse. Mellotrön will take the stage at 11 p.m. Tickets for the event are available from the bands and at the Emerald Theatre box office. This is an all-ages show.

Millions of lives are affected by cancer each year, including the band members of Mellotrön, which is why the band decided it was time to put their music to work for the good of the community and help the Sabrina Black Foundation.

"Cancer hits far too close to home," said Mellotrön bassist Bryan Paxton. "My brother fought off his cancer through terrible, life-changing chemotherapy back in 2005. So when an opportunity arose to make a difference, it was a no-brainer to contact a great local organization like the Sabrina Black Foundation."

Mellotrön is the brainchild of Detroit-based guitarist, vocalist and metal innovator Tony Piccoli. Joining Piccoli is a super group of Detroit-area progressive and metal artists, including former Tiles drummer Pat DeLeon, who has recorded with his former band on the Magna Carta and InsideOut music labels, as well as touring Europe as the opening act for Dream Theatre. Paxton, also a member of Detroit metal bands JustDefy and Miles Beyond, solidifies the rhythm section. Keyboardist/vocalist Pete Hopersberger, from the Detroit progressive rock group Space Nelson, adds his considerable musical talents, and guitarist/vocalist Scott Thompson completes the Mellotrön lineup. Thompson, also an established solo artist, has played numerous instruments in several Michigan groups.

The Sabrina Black Foundation was established in 2006, in memory of Sabrina, late wife of WRIF's Steve Black. Sabrina had fought Hodgkin's lymphoma for more than six years. The Sabrina Black Foundation raises money and finds cancer patients through local hospitals. The hospitals select candidates, and the foundation contacts them to let them know that an angel has heard their prayers, and then pays off their entire hospital bill. Instead of trying to help everyone a little, the Sabrina Black Foundation "changes one life at a time." The lives of those people helped by the foundation are changed forever.

DIN’S COURT is signed to ProgRock Records
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 05-02-2008 08:27

Odin's Court is a Maryland, USA band that was initially formed by Matt Brookins in 2001. For the first 2 years the band struggled to find their sound, playing covers and originals ranging from classic rock to modern metal and everything in between. Over the years they honed their sound and live show, opening for such notables as
Symphony X, Spock's Beard, King's X, Kamelot, Enchant and more. They will be opening for Circa on May 2, 2008 in Springfield Virginia.

Deathanity displays why Odin's Court is difficult to fit into a genre; ambience, dynamics, and soul are combined with complexity, groove, and energy in a song oriented structure, to create a unique, surreal landscape. Including a configuration
similar to that of the classic Pink Floyd album Dark Side of the Moon, Deathanity utilizes saxophone and backing female vocalists, and includes a palate scattered with spoken vocal clips and vast ranging sound effects. Special guest vocalists include Tom Englund (Evergrey) and Tony Kakko (Sonata Arctica).

Matt Brookins had the following to say on becoming a ProgRock Records band: "Odin's Court has a rich history. We've done a lot of great shows, put out some CDs, put out a DVD, and had many exciting opportunities along the way. However, we've always had an important element that was missing, and that was the ability for distribution, marketing, and networking on a larger, global scale. Our latest album Deathanity is leaps and bounds above our previous work in terms of maturity, so the
time was right to make that next jump, and we're very happy and pleased to be joining the ProgRock Records family. President Shawn Gordon is simply put, one of the most down to earth and humble people I've met in the industry. But don't let that fool you - he has business savvy to match, and I think we're all excited for Odin's Court to be unveiled upon the world!"

"I'd seen the name Odin's Court floating around for a few years but didn't have a chance to hear their material, but they sure seemed to be getting some big gigs, so it was a pleasant surprise when Matt contacted me and was interested in working with us. Matts a very talented and determined guy and exceptionally easy to work with, which is becoming a lot more important to me now than it use to, we're really glad to have him and the boys on board.", Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records said.

IXXI formed early 2006, in Stockholm, Sweden. Some pre-recordings where made and in July 2006 the band entered Endarker Studio to record the first self-titled album. In October a video for the track "Ancient Spirits Are" was recorded. In June 2007, almost a year after the recording of the S/T-album it was finally released by Total Holocaust Records.

The very same month, June 2007, IXXI entered Endarker studio once again to record the second opus "Assorted Armament". Selin left the band prior to the recording and was replaced by Smoker but did make a guest appearance on the track "Armageddon Nobility". The album was released in December 2007 by Sigilla Malae.

MISERY SIGNALS premiere new song on MySpace
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)

MISERY SIGNALS will premiere “Weight Of The World” from their upcoming full-length ‘CONTROLLER’ on MySpace today.

Speaking on the song bassist Kyle Johnson relates: “It was the first song we recorded for the new album and it’s a different song for us, it’s little angrier, faster and actually the shortest song clocking in at a little over two minutes.”

Vocalist Karl Schubach adds: “It was the first song we tracked and Devin (Townsend, Producer) had me run through the entire song once just to get down the idea of where I wanted to go. He told me that I nailed it right off the bat and we ended up keeping most of it as the finished version. The song itself is about deciding whether you should tell someone what you really think and get it off of your chest or take the high road and let them think that they are right. That situation can really blow up.”

The band recorded the entire album with Devin Townsend (Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend Band) who was at the helm of the band’s 2004 debut Of Malice and The Magnum Heart. Since wrapping up recording in March, the band have finished a European Run, which sold out most of the dates.

Misery Signals have just started a US tour supporting As I Lay Dying.

GALAHAD re-issues
(posted by Giannis Tsakonas)
Added on 04-22-2008 07:55

Following on from their extremely successful clutch of gigs in Poland in April 2008, Galahad have now re-released their CLASSIC ROCK LIVE album which was originally recorded in 1995 and released in conjunction with the Rotherham-based Classic Rock Society in 1996.

The new version has been re-mastered and released by Polish based Oskar Productions (www.oskar-cd.com.pl) and also includes a bonus 'official bootleg' cd containing a Galahad concert recorded at Mister Smiths in Bournemouth, England on 28 October 1994. Thus the new version of the album has the cunningly subtle different new title of TWO CLASSIC ROCK LIVES and comes in the form of a particularly smart-looking two-cd digipack.

TWO CLASSIC ROCK LIVES is available now either directly from Galahad or from Oskar Productions.

Meanwhile studio albums NOTHING IS WRITTEN and FOLLOWING GHOSTS have also recently been re-mastered and re-released in conjunction with Oskar Productions as part of an ongoing programme to spruce up and re-release the entire Galahad back catalogue, which will also contain the odd unreleased bonus track or two taken from the extensive Galahad live archive.

Other albums due to be re-released at some time in the near future include the OTHER CRIMES & MISDEMEANOURS series of albums plus IN A MOMENT OF COMPLETE MADNESS complete with yet more extra live tracks.

It also looks likely that a live album taken from the recent Polish gigs will also be released as well as the β"˜Galahad -€“ Live at ROSfest"€™ set which is being mastered at the moment! So plenty going on in Galaland.

Meanwhile the band are working on new material for their next album following on from the well accepted and critically acclaimed EMPIRES NEVER LAST album which deservedly and unexpectedly won "Best Album of the Year" award at the recent Classic Rock Society awards.
