Hi guys, congratulations for your
newest release.
Thank you. It's
always nice to see that people like/appreciate/understand
the things you work so hard for to
achieve.
We had been
in contact before 3-4 years, when
you had released one of your demos.
I must admit that back then I didn't
like so much your music. Now with
your newest work, I can say that you
had made a lot of progress. Personally
when you hear your previous works,
do you feel satisfy from the result
after the hard work and the many rehearsals
that you had done?
Yes. for we put in
so many hours of writing & rehearsing
into the effort that we had to be
satisfied before recording anything
.otherwise there'd have been no use
to record the songs. Although we like
to change a bit here and there now
and then after recording...
Tell us
few things about the recordings of
your latest work.
It took too long
;-) could mostly only record on weekends,
although the studio was in/near our
hometown. That was mostly because
the producer had other important things
to do or we a summer-holiday break.

Which is
the procedure from Forces at Work,
when you write new songs?
One of us has the
basics in mind and lays ‘em
out for the band, sing or plays riffs
for the others to play along to. We
are all "composers", have
all ideas for songs. That's
fine, gives the material a wide range
of influences. After the song-structure
is finished we work on the details.
Personally
I believe that you had find your personal
way to compose new tracks, it was
difficult for you to make this result?
No, natural process
of progression. We are together for
5 years now, know what to expect from
each other and which part to give
to what musician to work on. Easy
as pie now.
If someone
hasn't heard your music, which
things would, you say to him in order
to have a small picture before hear
your stuff?
That's not
so easy, for we blend so many different
styles. Maybe take the most progressive
you know and the most aggressive you
know and shake well before use. I
don't know. Every song sounds
different, so listen to all the mp3
on our page and see if you can take
progRock meets nuMetal meets flamenco
;-)
How is Forces
at Work on stage?
Unfortunately boring.
A screaming, spitting and cursing
vocalist and 4 musicians deeply concentrated
with their instrument and not really
moving much at all. So better close
your eyes and listen. Live we are
much faster, heavier and evil than
we are on any recording.
So far are
you satisfied from the reaction of
the press and the fans?
To be honest, we
are. People who liked the first 2
CDs love the new one although it's
a big step towards metalCore/mathCore
and a bit away from the traditional
prog metal. The press also has been
very kind so far, which I think is
only fair, for we are unique and the
CD has a crystal clear and brutal
sound, very american ;-)
What are
your future plans in order to support
your latest work?
Right now? Hm, not
much. Looking for a new label (preferably
an American metalCore label like Ferret,
Relapse, Trustkill and the like) and
playing a handful of shows ‘til
2007. And writing new stuff, already
got 4 new songs finished (sounding
refreshingly different AGAIN!)
What were
your expectations when you formed
Forces at Work?
Can't remember.
Guess nothing and all. We knew we
were special and non-consumer-friendly
but had no idea how anybody would
respond to such complex music at all.
Now we know ;-) we're happy how things
turned out to be.
Thank you
