Dear Roland
thank you for speaking to our webzine.
First of all, I would like to congratulate
you on your new album.
Thank you very much! We appreciate
it.
Are pleased with the final
result? Do you think that there
are areas that need improvement?
We are very happy with our new
album. Of course we are trying to
continually improve our skills and
hoping that we are getting better
with each record.
What are comments that
you have gathered so far about "Paths"?
We received quite a lot of great
reviews, on the other hand we also
received some bad reviews. It looks
like this record polarise people,
but that's cool, I mean it's better
than everyone thinks it's an average
record.

In regard to the negative
comments that you might have heard
about Eeriness, what is the one
that makes you angrier and think
that it's unfair?
Well, if they criticize something
that they can not judge without
talking to us. For example if they
backbite the lyrics. Almost all
lyrics are based about true stories
from my life. There are many people
who are much better writer than
I am but writing those lyrics helped
me go through some tough moments.
Or when they criticize that the
Song "Thanatos" should
be a ballad 'cause it's about
the death of a person. Well let
me tell you that he was a very close
friend of mine and since he loved
Death and Black Metal, the
last thing he would have wanted
was a ballad. So of course the song
about him is probably the most heavy
one on the record.
What took you so long to
release a second album? What were
the problems you faced during all
those years since the release of
"A Life Beyond The Shades
of Time" in 2003?
There are different reasons for
this long wait. We played concerts
in Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia
and of course Switzerland, had several
line-up changes and other stuff
to clear out. So I really hope that
we will not need another 4 years
to release our next album. ;-)
Do you think that this
is a new start for the band?
Yeah, it's definitely a new start
for Eeriness.
How easy was for you to
find a record deal? Were there any
prerequisites for you to sign with
a record label?
We found a solution which works
good for us. It's important for
us that you can find our CD in stores,
but it's even more important that
no one is trying to force us to
play music we don't like.
How hard do you think
that is playing Gothic Metal these
days? I mean Gothic Metal, in the
sense that you deliver it, it's
not so popular nowadays?
Maybe it's not so popular anymore,
but hey, we never played Gothic
Metal 'cause it's in, we always
played it because we like it.
Let me be the devil's
advocate and ask you what fresh
and new can you bring in an area
so "saturated" like
Gothic Metal?
We try to bring back the Metal
in Gothic Metal, if you know what
I mean. There are a lot of bands
out there who say that they play
Gothic Metal, but it's more like
Gothic Pop or so. Our new record
"Paths" is a lot harder
than our first album "A Life
Beyond The Shades
Of Time". So you can imagine
how our next record will be...
Do you play live often?
Is it easy for you to replicate
your music on stage?
It was never an all-too big problem
for us to replicate the music on
stage, I mean of course it always
sounds different when you play live
and it's never as perfect as on
the record but that's ok.
What is the status of
the Swiss metal scene? Do you believe
that the revival of bands, like
Gotthard or Celtic Frost, will turn
the eyes of the people to smaller
bands, like you?
It's possible, I mean the Swiss
Metal Scene gets bigger and better
every year. There are a lot of talented
bands out there. The only problem
is that for a lot of people a Metal
Band has to come from Scandinavia
to be cool.
What are your future plans?
Do you plan to release a new album?
At the moment we are promoting
the album. But if everything works
out we will hit the studio next
year. We already have written some
new songs.
Dear Roland, thank you
for talking to our webzine. This
is the end of our conversation and
I would like to wish you all the
best.
Thank you very much!
