Hi guys,
first of all thank you very much for
the opportunity to speak with you.
No problem!!!! It's
always kick ass to be able to let
people know more about the band.
Recently,
we were informed from Burning Star
Records that you will re-release your
debut album. Tell us few more things
about this re-release.
It's gonna be re-mastered
and include all the songs from the
original album and 3 bonus tracks,
6 of the tunes have never been on
disc before. There will also a video
from 1987. It's gonna be a digi-pack
with new artwork, a 4 page foldout,
and 12 page booklet. I can't wait
to get it out and around, I think
all metal fans will really dig the
sound and look! Burning Star's been
great to us and I know they'll do
an excellent job on it.
You were
more than two decades in the music
scene and of course you were in the
great 80s. What things did you remember
from those years?
It was definitely
the best time for power & thrash
metal here. It was great because there
were a lot of killer bands playing
this kind of music and tons of cool
shows and albums. People were always
cranking bands like Sabbath, Metallica,
Maiden, Priest, and Ozzy, and that's
the time when those guys were really
kicking ass. There was huge support
for the metal scene and a lot of fans
were really into checking out underground
bands.

Sometimes
do you dream to get back in time in
that period? Do you think that back
there the things were more "real"?
What's wild is that
with the band back together with the
same people who started the whole
thing I kind of feel like we've went
back in time! I'd be cool to be able
to go back since TRUE metal was so
big, but the band's doing great so
I can't complain. In a way things
were more "real" then, but
it was also the same in some ways:
a lot of people followed trends (just
different trends), there were some
lame styles of metal, and it was tough
in the music business. The main difference
was the kind of metal that more people
were into and totally supported. Tons
of fans were really loyal to the scene
here. Not to say that there aren't
people helping out the scene anymore,
there were just more of them back
then.
Do you have
any plans to have something new from
Axemaster?
DEFINITELY!!!!! By
the time this comes out we'll have
3 new songs recorded and be pushing
the hell out of them. They will be
a sneak preview of the kind of stuff
that will be on a new Axemaster CD.
We're ready to go with that as soon
as we get things worked out with a
record label.
Because I haven’t
seen you on stage, how was a live
show from Axemaster back in 80s?
Lot of energy. We
didn't have the huge expensive stage
show, we just jammed our asses off
and showed the crowd that we were
really into what we were doing. It
was just 3 guys rockin hard and giving
it their all for the fans. Things
haven't changed......
Now in 2006,
when I push the play button on your
CD player what I will hear?
Man, tons of different
shit! I guess lately I've been mainly
getting into old Slayer, Chastain,
Iced Earth, Candlemass, and old Savatage.
I still listen to basically the same
bands that I did back in the day.
But I do like some bands that came
out after the 80's like Evergrey and
In Flames.
Besides
the new re-release what more we should
wait from Axemaster?
Like I said, we're
psyched on getting a new CD out. We've
got enough tunes together and are
writing more all the time. After we
do another release we'd like to come
to Europe, that all depends on what
kind of arrangements we can make.
It's something that we want to do,
just gotta see if we can push something
through.
Thank you
very much for your time and I wish
you all the best in this come back.
Thanks! It kicks
ass to be back!!!! I'd like to give
a shout out to the fans who have supported
us through the years, you've put us
where we are today. And to the new
fans, welcome on board, it's gonna
be a hell of a ride!!! If you're into
checking out more about us and getting
updates, you can write me to be on
our mailing list and check out www.myspace.com/thebandaxemaster.
Keep it metal!!!!! |
