Dear Alessandro hi. Thanks a lot for giving us the chance to speak with you.
Hi Giannis, thank you as well for this scope on the webzine.
As you are on the threshold of a new release, I would like you to comment on your previous demo "Liquid light in abyss". What do you think about it?
In "Liquid light in abyss" the songs were composed in the first months of the band's existence, and they were composed just a few weeks before we enter the studio. In addition there are songs composed in our early steps as musicians, like "Just once" for example and "Vero Ritorna". Nevertheless we are proud of this work, since it was our first demo as Atomixynergy.
What was the reaction from the press and the fans?
The reaction was good, from the press and from the fans. We received good reviews from many webzine in Greece ( including this one!), Netherlands, Italy, Spain and on magazines like Metal Hammer and Metal Maniac. The audience was very good in the live performances, and we can't wait to test the new songs on stage.
Can you tell us a few things about your forthcoming demo, which -if I am not mistaken- will be called "To reflect human patterns"?
Yeah "To reflect human patterns" is yet a temporary title, but I think it won't change. It's a completely different work, since there're new influences from new member (Eric) in the composition process and we also have new influences as musicians, especially inclining to the sound of Circus Maximus , Pain of Salvation, and a little bit of Opeth. There will be five songs with one of this approximately 14 minutes long, but this is not important. We'll record this work in the first part of April at the Studio A (owned by members of the Italian band Arcadia), and we hope to achieve a very good sound, obviously better than " Liquid light in abyss".
What are the main differences, between "Liquid light in abyss"and "To reflect human patterns"?
The main differences are in the influences as musicians…we think that finally this work will manifest a more personal sound of the band.
What is the lyrical concept of the songs in "To reflect human patterns"?
As the title suggests the lyrical concept of the new work is the man, viewed as a holder of feelings…In the songs we try to analyze stories of a man, but we can't speak of a concept album. We think that is very difficult to write a good concept album, with good lyrics and a good story too…
Is there a particular meaning behind this title?
Yes, as I said in the previous question in the songs there are stories of a man…the patterns are for us the different ways to live the life for a man…the different feelings.
What's the ultimate purpose of this demo?
We're not searching just now for a record label…we hope to increase the live performances and to organize by ourselves a mini tour to promote " To reflect human patterns". Obviously we'll search in the future for a record label, but maybe for the first full-length and not for a demo.
If you were about to sign with a record label, what would be your requirements?
Well, I think that the only requirements would be gigs, gigs and more gigs…we are not absolutely interested in incredible productions for the albums…incredible studios for the records…we're interested in touring anywhere is possible.
Although you are a young band, you seem to be very active in regard to your live appearances. Can you tell us a few things about your latest gigs?
Our latest gigs were very good...the audience is very important for us…we're just now building a little fan base in our zone and this is a good thing for us.
What do you prefer most? Playing in the studio or live?
We prefer the live dimension.
How do you conceive the term "progressive metal"? Is it only a matter of skills or more than this?
Yeah…I can write for tons of pages but…as well we don't mind a lot about playing progressive metal…by myself I think that progressive is only a way to be as a person…I think that is a whole of feelings…I don't think that progressive metal is only technique -keyboards - technique-keyboards in a song, if you know what I mean ?
What influences you? Do your influences come only from music or you have other stimuli too?
Our influences come especially from music, films…and others. As musicians our influences come from Pain of Salvation and Circus Maximus mainly, but there are a large number of bands we appreciate, from EVERY kind of music, from death metal to jazz, and pop.
Dear Alessandro, this is the end of our conversation. Thank you very much and I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much Giannis, and to Metal Perspective for this interview. On our my space page www.myspace.com/atomixynergy it is possible to view a studio video sample of a new song that will be on the new record…and the old songs are completely free to download…We hope you'll appreciate the songs…Bye. |
