Suhrim
are among the most known ug dm acts
hailing from Belgium, so I'm
glad I'm given the chance to
check them out through this brand
new offering of theirs. The cover
seems that you got to deal with a
band like Aborted, Anasarca and the
likes though the topics in their lyrics
cover a wider range of death metal
- related matters. Plus, from their
side it tends to be a bit humorous
and sarcastic.
Fourteen songs included,
plus a bonus live one, with good sound
and a main riff reminiscent of the
one after the bridge in Kaamos'
"Corpus Vermiis". Their
riffs are OK, most of them memorable,
good groove and rhythms and not that
complex songwriting. Pleasant to listen
to in the beginning, I think though
that in this plethora of tracks the
listener may loose interest. Indeed,
it's a "Happy Hour"
release: you can listen to it with
your friends in a party or a club,
yet not feel the special personal
occasion to absorb its notes, like
it happens with Rottrevore, Necrophagia
or Incantation par example. A couple
of guitar works of theirs belong to
the thrashier side of the genre, that
doesn't mean of course that
blastbeats are absent. Having the
majority of tracks included at a level
above the average, this album cannot
be bad, neither mediocre. Enthusiasm
and simplicity. But that's all.
