Well, what we have
here is another band from Sweden playing
in the vein of the popular sound of
the west coast. Readers of Metal Perspective's
Extreme Corner section are surely
aware of my treatment towards this
kind of bands. Not the best one, as
every month a bombardment of similar
albums destroys my will to have some
good time. I'd say that Sonic
Syndicate, despite their age, have
a better approach than many of their
colleagues. Late Dark Tranquility
- yes, with the cheesy synths accompanying
the guitar riffs at times- and In
Flames forced these lads (and girl,
who abuses the bass guitar) to find
their way in their first steps into
the metal scene. Specifically, the
references to these bands are the
order of the day in "Eden Fire".
Catchy , melodic Maiden-esque leads
and the filling keyboard tunes is
what each song differs from another.
They chose a memorable track "Jailbreak"
as an opener and their better ones
were put in the three parts this album
conceptually consists of (Helix Reign,
Extinction and Black Lotus). It's
a young act that can find its way
soon, plus I must add here that since
S.S. avoid to become another Swedish
sounding thrash/death act, they gain
my sympathy for a little while (but
not my compassion). |
