I am very pleased to see that slowly,
but steadily, the Greek doom metal
scene is strengthening in every single
aspect of this beloved music. To
be honest I hadn't had the
chance to listen to the first effort
of the young Athenian band, though
it was reviewed in our webzine, but
I must say that I was impressed by
the level of this two-track promo.
The sextet skips pathways that lead
to gothic metal exaggerations and
remains focused to a grieved and
sweetly melancholic sound, which
is based on My Dying Bride and Saturnus
(they had opened their recent gig
in Athens-quite natural choice).
It is an encouraging work, but we
must see the band's endurance
on the test of time. The two tracks
stand for nothing, but for the purposes
of this promo, and the wonder is
whether they can cope with biggest
challenges, where they will have
to keep the listener's interest
high for longer time and add their
personal mark. Nonetheless, the two
guitarists provide solid performances,
especially in the ending part of
"Shadows from the Past", while the
keyboards work is also notable. I
must argue that some clean vocals
are not equally convincing like the
death ones, but in general all members
perform well in this firm delivery
of dramatic doom/death metal. Contact
with the band to find more information
about purchasing this well packaged
promo and find out another interesting
band in the doom/death field.
