Whether a reference to one of Anathema's
most well-known tracks can be made
with such a title, and a disorientating
artwork which accompanies this demo
CD, Sacram's relations with
electricity are not momentary, but
permanent. They're closer to
bands like Eucharist and the wise
instrumentalisation of elder Dark
Tranquility, while the mood tends
to have some connections with mid-90s
British bands, to say the least.
This is not my stuff, but these
guys truly have something special,
being it the warm guitar melodies,
embracing the listener like tickling
fire or the interesting, “alternative” (to
avoid misunderstanding) moments in
each of the four tracks in this demo
CD. Well-produced, it hides almost
nothing, not even the bass - seems
that it's not just another
bunch of untalented kids. Good execution,
mature songwriting, neat melodies,
personal -above all- lyrics.
Avoiding an all-the-way-short kind
of riffage, their music is given
the matching space for improvisation,
being it solos or calmer moments,
but all stripped-out from nonsense.
I've got only one objection
concerning not their music, but their
potential; it's not the first
time bands sounding like Sacram appear
in the Hellenic scene. There have
been more, but just like pyros, they-
to a huge percentage- disappear after
causing attention with some demos
or a full-length work. How many can
you remember playing together for
more than five years after their
most encouraging recording?
