Overgarven - "Promo 2005"

02. Shattered Values

04. Let Me Die
05. Just A Fake

Even with a quick listen to PROMO 2005, it's easy enough to understand the musical direction of the band. The songs follow the 80's heavy/thrash school of songwriting, while the vocal parts belong to the extreme genre, with an intense black metal flavor. It's true that there aren't many new things that can be done with the 80's style these days, but a good song is always welcome in my playlist. And all five songs of this demo are good ones, showing a focused band, full of enthusiasm. Mid/up tempo speeds, groovy rhythms, good riffs and some melodic phrases is what you get here, while keyboards and female vocals are comprised in some songs. Also, the fact that the production is successful is very pleasing and it aids their material, it's a common truth that the majority of the efforts of Greek underground bands suffer from bad sound, especially those from the province - which is the case here. As the band states in their promo, all tracks of this demo will be included in their debut album, so we'll have a complete view of their work when that comes out.
