If
someone had to roughly define this
band's sound, "a heavy/thrash
act" is the first answer that
would come in mind, yet that's an
insufficient description. You see,
all those groovy riffs and vocals
- sounding like Axl Rose trying to
imitate Chuck Schuldiner, and vice
versa - make the rock'n'roll element
pretty evident. Besides, the band's
name is a good hint in the first place,
right? But what actually gives a different
flavor to the music, a horror comic-like
approach I'd say, are the guitar sounds
used for the solos, as well as some
spooky - and very clever - keyboard
melodies placed throughout the album.
And the good thing is that all these
sounds fit perfectly into the picture!
The compositional level of the album
is very high indeed; it won't tire
you even for a sec. And although you'll
quickly realize that Freevil didn't
release the record that will alter
the face of metal music, they surely
wrote 10 solid songs, packed with
great riffs and a touch of their own.
You pretty much know what to expect
here, so take it or leave it!
