In a short while
after their (or his, as it's
an one-man band with the help of a
drummer) debut "Dodsangest",
Swedish death metal combo of Pete
K. Flesh strikes back. Pete's
overproductive thoughts are often
laid on albums recently - Deceiver,
Flesh and Thrown in a brief period.
Different bands, different sound,
different albums. Even this one, is
not that much early - ‘90s
worship, to my disappointment. The
biggest part of the album goes on
the same tempo, with predictable alterations.
This is the flaw of "Temple…",
even if you are getting used to each
song, and the worthy ones are more
than half - great to listen
to such these days - the total
is kinda tiring. The riffs laid upon
the static rhythm section (not that
it's just a deathrash album
with a programmed drummer) are noteworthy,
some leads and short - legged
riffs are exceptional and add more
to inevitable quality of this album.
On the other hand, the slight absence
of DEATH, compared to the debut, is
at hand. Traces of Black Sabbath influences
of Pete are here again, with a couple
of heavy riffs following a fast beating
of the skins, in their own way. A
nice aspect, instead of a more common
Autopsy or C.Frost tuning, close to
what we've been taught by the
mainman for more than a decade now.
The more I listen to it, the more
I like the longest songs which are
"Baptized On The Demon's
Throne" and the closing one,
"Invisible Darkness",
as for the dynamites of this release
are for sure the opening four ones,
with the title track plus "Rotten
Through The Skin" topping my
faves' list for the time being.
Note that both Flesh albums will be
(or have already been) unleashed on
vinyl as well. |
