When Peter Karlsson
(also known as Pete Flesh) left Maze
of Torment one and a half years ago,
it was obviously that he'd continue
playing music, which was immediately
proved when Deceiver recorded their
first official works and gave some
live shows in a short period. Well,
while Deceiver rock their ass and
empty dozens of beer cans, Pete goes
on with another shady side of him,
a death metal album recorded in 3
days at The Abyss last summer. In
"Dödsångest"
traditional Swedish death metal has
its honour; 100% of purity and mind-drilling
stench. Classic stuff, even better
than what I thought I'd face
in these 9 gems of early '90s
worship. However, Pete added some
of his talent to diverse the product
a little bit and avoid become another
worn - out example. "Six Evil
Eyes" in not an everyday composition,
perhaps quite strange yet equally
good to the rest. Some Maze Of Torment
references are OK and fit well, they
are a big chapter in this man's
history. As for some of the slower
parts, well, they're gravelike
deadly and condemn the listener to
fry his soul and cause serious ache
to his/her nape. Hopefully we'll
have the chance to hear more of this
project in the future. |
