So,
Downlord prove to be more than a musickal
project led by ex-members of infamous
bands, with the exceptional Dave Ingram
(ex-Benediction/Bolt Thrower) handling
the guttural duties - who, unlike
another significant European d.m.
vocalist, Martin Van Drunnen appears
as a stable figure behind each band
he participates in. The comic-esque
cover hides in its blackness the logo
of this Danish band, on the other
hand it’s a continuation of
their previous release on Open Grave
Records, almost a year ago, which
featured their two demo(n)s and was
reviewed 10 months ago. All their
old songs -seven in total - are featured
here as well, reproduced, together
with eight fresh tunes in the same
vein, so do not wonder about this
total of 15 songs as an outcome of
a studio rush. What we can get is
the same, fast death metal referred
to the likes of Iniquity, quite technical
but simple at the same time, bearing
the vocals of D. Ingram, who straightly
declares a both lyrical and ideological
connection to the La Vey-an philosophies
(often close to the "survival
of the strongest" laws of Darwinism).
Since this album has got numerous
tunes, it’s more unlikely that
you’ll get into the whole of
it, yet it’s biggest part stands
as a strong experience for a death
metal fan. "Psyklotron"
or the closer -and slowest one- simultaneously
"Sleep Forever" belong to
the best of the eight new tunes (I
can’t hide that I already know
the elder tunes upside down, crushers
like "Full Scale Hatred",
"Nailing You In" and "Loathe.
Scorn. Detest").
