Writing
a bad review is never a pleasant task
for me. I wish to believe that every
record I review - regardless of the
final grade I give it - is the result
of hard work and thought, from people
that love music and create it with
pure intentions. I don't know their
motives, and I guess the same thing
applies to A.W.A.S. from Germany,
but I can honestly tell you what I
like in their effort: Nothing. Well,
almost nothing, I like the opening
riff on track 4, as well as the last
track (which lasts 1.10). I don't
expect from anyone these days to add
something new to the early Swedish/Entombed/old-school
sound, but writing a decent song is
a feasible task. Unfortunately, of
all the tracks on this one, I couldn't
find one I would grade above average.
Mix some common-soundin', some terrible
and some boring riffs, add some flat
vocals and you end up with a really
boring album like this. Out of good
will, I tried to salvage it from a
low mark by reading the lyrics on
the booklet... Now, I tell you folks,
that was a mistake!!! I definitely
ain't a fan of Christian lyrics, but
I also never take religious beliefs
of artists into much consideration.
It really bothers me though when the
lyrics are of such childish intellect,
which is the case here. A 10-year
old kid could do better than that!
God is good, Satan is bad and ugly
and so on… that's what all the
songs are about, and that's as far
as their vocabulary goes. Give us
a break, guys!!!! No problem with
your message, only with the words
you use. By far the worst I've read
in years. Good thing you can't understand
much of what they sing… You
still reading this?? Look, I tried
my best to turn you away from this
record, you buy it if you want, but
I won't have any more part in this.
