One of the bands
from Holland I can remember in the
beginning of ‘00s was Bloodcum,
a good expert of US brutality, very
much alike many compatriots of theirs.
Bloodcum disappeared and are now revitalized
under a new monicker, Arsebreed, gathering
some members of the infamous Pyaemia,
Mangled and Disavowed to fill the
ranks of the departing members. They
even got Robbe K. from Disavowed and
Joel (Pyaemia) as vocalists, in the
same grunting way you got to know
them personally I can’t spot
direct differences in their voices!
And here comes "Munching the
Rotten" from the brutal dm oriented
Neurotic Recs., quite selective when
it comes to its releases, judging
from the albums I got in my hands.
The style is close to what the other
bands in the Netherlands offer, quite
good for my ears. Fortunately, rhythmic,
mid-tempo, groovy injections -not
bouncy at all, luckily- interrupt
a solid wall of striking drums and
relentless riffing (that many times
is close to the Cannibal Corpse duo)
in a way that your headbanging spine
will be constantly following beatdown
passages every now and then. The sound
is heavy as fuck, courtesy of Excess
Studios, very much known from goremasters
Severe Torture. Total number of these
gore anthems is 11, all being the
same in terms of fury, and this album
can be placed next to the latest great
achievements of dutch death metal
like Sinister’s or Prostitute
Disfigurement’s recent efforts.
