This review would
be more correct to have been made
by Giannis Tsakonas, since he is familiar
with their music for a long time before
me. I myself got to know Arch Enemy
through "Anthem of Rebellion"
which really astonished me. The extreme,
but at the same time technical Heavy
metal with the incredible guitar work
by the Ammot brothers, the interspersed
melodies and the sing alone refrains
make you feel certain that you are
listening to one of the best albums
and not just of the year. The above
ingredients make "Anthem Rebellion"
approachable to even less extreme
listeners (like me). What ever the
case is, when you have released one
of the top albums in the field, your
next release is been expected by everyone
with much anticipation and of course
many demands.
"Doomsday
Machine" is a bit harder to
listen to since it has more things
on load. More alterations, more melodies-something
that in my opinion makes it unmarketable.
Since it is a common phenomenon some
albums to make a success of their
next move, the next step will be more
melodic, easier to listen to, waiting
for even greater sales simplifying
their music. So they continue offering
high quality music and their new work
is included to the best of the year.
It is one of the albums I have heard
many times.
Bottom Line: It is
one of the best bands in the field.
"Doomsday Machine" confirms
this opinion. All perfect.
